The Las Vegas Weather

The city of Las Vegas is located in Clark County, Nevada and it is one of the most visited travel destinations in the world. The type of weather that you will find in Las Vegas is subtropical desert and because it is located in the Mohabi Desert the city will get very little precipitation and a lot of sunshine throughout the year. Not all of the year in Las Vegas is hot. In fact, the temperatures cool during the months of November through February. At any other time the Las Vegas weather can be brutal. Super-Hot Temperatures

The Las Vegas weather can experience really hot temperatures any time from March through October and sometimes even November. Snow In Las Vegas

Here is a little something that most people do not know. The Las Vegas area has in fact seen snow in the past but it is extremely rare. The last measurable snow to hit the city of Las Vegas happened in the month of December of 2008. There are some areas in Nevada that will experience some snow and the mountains surrounding Las Vegas are one of those. If you are visiting the mountains of Las Vegas as a side trip, you may want to have a coat. The Las Vegas weather in the city, however, will rarely see temperatures that dip below 30 Fahrenheit (-1 Celsius). Nighttime temperatures during the winter can reach the freezing mark a few times.

As stated earlier the city of Las Vegas will see a lot of sunshine throughout the year. There is an average of 300 sunny days each year and rainclouds are extremely rare, especially during the summer. Half the precipitation you will see in the city of Las Vegas happens during the winter. The sunniest month of the year is June which averages 402 mean sunshine hours each month while for the year the average of sunshine hours is 3,822. Even the winter months see a lot of sunshine in Las Vegas. The month of December experiences 235.6 mean sunshine hours each year and that is as much sunshine as other parts of the country get during the summer months. Best Time To Visit

If you are visiting the city of Las Vegas and want to know when you should do so then we at The Las Vegas Weather.Net recommend that you do so during the late spring and mid to late fall. Visiting during those times of the year will ensure that you avoid the extremely hot temperatures which are normal during the summer days and the very cool nights of the winter. During those times of the year, seeing precipitation is very rare anyway so you should have enough time to do anything you would like in Las Vegas. It is also a perfect time to visit outdoor sites like the Red Rock Canyon and the Freemont Street experience.
